Answer #1

:) okay okay answer my other one! its better written :P

Answer #2

I’ve had gauges before. I was at 5/8ths for a good amount of time, I downsized my gauges. Within 2 months I am already down to a zero. If you look everywhere, there are going to be many different responses and answers you will find. It all depends on the persons body and amount of time youve had them in. A method that I heard of is using Hemorrhoid cream on your earlobes. Im not sure how well that works, but the person that stated it said it worked really well… It does start off with a bit of swelling but the holes do tend to shrink.

I have a ?

Answer #4

right well maybe your ears went back to a normal size but not everyones do and by going down to a size 20 doesnt mean that the hole went away its still there, its still permanent and its still noticable

Answer #5

Your ears CAN go back to a normal size, as long as you don’t go over a zero. GOSH!

Answer #6

ok, your ears can shrink, but your ears will never look like a normal piercing. like could look just saggy, but they will never fully go back to a normal size gauge.

Answer #7

I dont understand what 3/4 is but if there any bigger than around 14 gauge then the hole will never close up because it would have fully healed around whatever you put in it and skin doesnt just reatatch itself to other skin

Answer #8

Actually, that person below me doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Everything up to a Zero can close up. Once you go to a double zero and beyond, it wont ever close up… to a standard size piercing.

Answer #9

^ no, once the hole is too big the hole will never close up and I happen to know a lot about peircings, having 34 of them and all you should see older people who have gauged there ears to get those spacers when they were young they have ugly looking dangling holes, because that skin is healred, and it will never close up surgery is the only way to fix a giant gaping hole

Answer #10

It’s called stretching, not “gauging”. A gauge is a form of measurement. I don’t clearly understand what you’re asking, but if you take out your jewelry, the piercing will shrink. Don’t let it shrink a size and then stretch up two sizes, you’ll end up damaging the tissue and risk a blowout.

Answer #11

Jenny has the right idea. If you’re not careful and you don’t take your time, you will risk a blowout. (Although, I do usually move up two sizes at a time, especially when I’m at the small sizes and my ears heal up just fine)

Concerning the term that we use for it- there is no “set” term. It can be called gauging, stretching, sizing, and pretty much anything else people come up with. I guess it just depends on what area you’re in? Here in Idaho, pretty much everyone I know refers to it as “gauging”.

Answer #12

Actually, I mean it when I say you don’t know what you’re talking about! I have been to a size 0 gauge and had to take them out before. They healed up to a size 20 (standard piercing size and hardly noticeable) within’ a fairly short period of time.

The standard size chart goes like this: 20,18,16,14,12,10,8,6,4,2,0, and 00. The smaller the number, the bigger the size. You can gauge your ears to a 0, have them in for months, take them out, and they WILL go back to a size 20. (if you gauge your ears properly and take good care of them during the process). Once you move to a 00 (double zero) it will no longer have a chance of healing back up to a 20. Though, it can heal back up to a small size such as a 10 (which isn’t very big) and in some situations, even smaller.

That girl that commented upon this obviously hasn’t even gauged her ears or anything else to a significant size. She doesn’t know what a 3/4 gauge is. (19.1mm, which is 3/4 of an inch) She is right about one though though, once you go to an inch, two inch, and so on, you will more than likely need surgery to fix your ears completely.
