Im tall but I cant dunk which really hurts my Bball the only thing I’ve ever heard of in the way of gaingin more vertical is taking like a medicene ball or wieghts and jumping on and off steps…

I found this on the internet to help you. I hope it helps more than Mutt Monster ‘s answer. It was Michael Jordan’s Theory. Put up a new answer saying if it helped or not. If you are determined to dunk with authority everytime you are dunking a basketball, and you lower your buttocks little more than usual you can pull off maybe 2-3 inches from you vertical. It’s true.

I’ll say that again. Having faith that you will jump so high that eventually your eyes will see the rim right in front of you, and you will lower you legs more than you normally do (in other words – as if you are seemingly going to crouch), can easily add 2-3 more inches to your vertical leap. Try it!

and just how many sky hooks are missed every game by pros and college and high school players???

I dont have an exact number but I know its a lot more than dunks…

Any way I dont care about your opion b/c your obviously someone who hasnt ever played in a real game of basketball in their life time.

Answer #3

Not being able to dunk shouldn’t really hurt your basketball game. You should learn how to shoot first. Lay-ups get the same number as points as dunks.

Answer #4

You’re saying that people miss more sky hooks than dunks? Well I should hope so! If the defender has done such a poor job and has allowed the guy with the ball to get righ next to the basket you really should be able to make that.

Hook shots are actually a very high percentage shot if you’re good at them. People just aren’t used to shooting like that. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was the master of the Sky Hook, and he rarely missed.

Anyway, I don’t care about your opinion because you don’t know how to spell, and have no interest in getting better at the game of basketball. Dunking takes no skill or ability.

Answer #5

“seeing as you think its ok to not be able to make a shot as long as you can make a lay-up.” When did I ever say anything remotely close to that?

I believe my exact quote was, “You should learn how to shoot first.”

Seeing as you obviously knows nothing about basketball I would reccomend you learn about the Sky Hook if you want a shot that is actually difficult to block. But be warned, it takes a lot skill and practice.

Answer #6

W/e im not even going to argue with someone who obviously knows nothing about basketball seeing as you think its ok to not be able to make a shot as long as you can make a lay-up. In your eyes if your good at lay-ups then you dont need dunking, free throws, short shots, or even 3point shots as long as you can make a lay-up.

See when you dunk it the odds of it being blocked is much less than that of a lay-up or taking a weird bounce (in a lay-ups case of the glass) since when you dunk you dont lay it off the glass.

Now if anyone who knows something about basketball or knows about gaining vertical wants to comment please do.

Answer #7

Yes lay-ups are worth the same as dunks BUT if you can dunk the ball as well as make a lay-up then your game has more levels of skill it creats more opportunities on the court. Just think about it if your in a game and you have 2 players down low (nothing different about them except) 1 guy can just bank it in or do lay-ups the other guy can do lay-ups, bank it in, and dunk the ball which 1 would you rather have the ball to try and score.

Answer #8

ok then shut up im not looking for idiotic posts im looking to increase my vertical.

Answer #9

Dunking doesn’t add more levels of skill. Dunking takes no skill, actually.
