How come I'm friends with a lot of people around the world but none from my home state of California?
Because the online world is different than reality. In a face-to-face conversation, you have both verbal and non-verbal behaviors, and most of those can be masked on the internet. There is also a different language: common spoken dialog is not the same as written text. You are most likely naturally a better communicator with text-based media than in person. I am the exact opposite, as when I’m online everyone thinks I’m an a**hole. For example, the writing above is not criticism, it is a contrast between two things, neither of which is better than another. I bet many people will think I’m calling you a loser, but that is certainly not the case.
I won’t take Luis comment in a bad way. But that is a good answer.
