Sometimes you just have to pay a price for things you really want - not everything can be found cheap. If you have already tried craigslist and ebay the only other “cheap” option is to search your local newspaper ads or try a junk yard or u-pull it center. Other than that if you still cant find one your just going to have to suck it up and pay fullprice for one.

I needed an ECU for my old Miata. Mazda sold them for $1,000 which was more than my car was worth. I found places that would sell me a used one for $200 but no guaranty they even worked (they would let you exchange once if you got a bad one the first time). None of my local junk yards had one. I finally found a place that repairs ECUs and they charged me $215 and gave me a 1 year warranty. Sometimes the same ECU is used in different vehicles but programmed differently. Don’t assume an ECU with the right part number will work in your car. The place that rebuilt my ECU also reprogrammed it (something my local garage charges $100 to do).
