I only liked certain games from the series. I think over time, from a functional game standpoint, it's gotten very complicated and has tried to be more sophisticated, but in the process has become very user unfriendly. I like being able to complete a game, but with the newer games in the series I feel like I'll never be done with anything so it can be frustrating and labor intensive when it's supposed to be a leisure activity. The story and characters, for me, have started to become very bland and predictable. Final Fantasy 12 was probably the last straw for me.
In terms of art and music, I think Final Fantasy is very much a contender for the "best of" category. I personally enjoy the landscapes immensely, and pairing that kind of scenery with an equally epic soundtrack is something almost no other game can match. Right now, I think it would function better in the cinematic spectrum than the gaming world. Until someone can take the game and make it with a fresh approach.
Which one are you talking about? An individual game, or the entire franchise? It's certainly a good game series for the most part, and lots of fun and a good way to kill time, if that's what you're into, but it's by no means the best game ever. I really enjoy some of the older ones, but the newest one kind of frustrates me.
Oh, it definitely has a good theatrical appeal, for sure. I would probably have enjoyed the most recent game a lot more if it had just been a movie, because that's almost what it feels like to me already. I also enjoyed the Advent Children movie, it had it's moments.
sorry, i'm referring to the whole franchise. i'm not into games but the game art is what interest me the most. im not good playing any games but it is fun to watch.
