Who feels that all forms of birth control should be freely available to anyone?

I personally feel that birth control should be free and easily obtainable in all circumstances. What are your opinion regarding this and why?

Answer #1

I agree…I think it’s much worse for a 13 y ear old to have a baby than for a 13 year old to have protected sex, because you know - if they’re going to do it, it matters not if you try to advise them against it, and they should, at the very least, be protected.

Answer #2

I think so..but at the same time if teens know that it is so easily available they will start having sex more often or will start having sex at an earlier age. I don’t know where I would stand on this situation because there are some teens that will have sex no matter what but they want birth control but they cant get it. Then others are deciding to not have sex because they cant get their hands on any.

Answer #3

Thanks for the opinion. I agree with you to some extent. I was also considering that when I made my decision. However there are many teens who have sex in any case and then fall pregnant because they don’t always have access to birth control.

Answer #4

I feel like this question is similar to “should marijuana be legal” cause either way people are going to do it. Yet if it does become legal more people will do it. Alot of teenagers are already having sex it’d be better with protection though. But if you think about it, if they are having sex at a young age that kinda means they’re irresponsible they probably wont even be properly taking the pill.

Answer #5

Not necessarily. I have friends that started having sex in their teenage years and because birth control is so easily available where I live (my city), they protected themselves.

Also teenagers aside, shouldn’t it be available freely for any other women who wants to have sex? I mean there are a lot of people in their 20’s and 30’s that don’t have access to it easily.

Answer #6

I didnt know that. I mean you can buy birthcontrol at pharmacies here. Maybe it should be easily available but not really ..um idk promoted, That way the ones who really want to get their hands on it find out that they can easily get it . lol im 15 i wouldnt really know :]

Answer #7

Yep, for example if you are a poor woman in certain countries and you don’t have any free clinics close by then you need an expensive doctors visit (sometimes more than your monthly income - if at all) to get birth control.

And thanks once again for the reply. I appreciate all answers.

Answer #8

say YES to safe sex, yes,i agree with that, they should be easily available and should be free as well.i mean this definitely help alot with diseases and we will not listen this ‘HELP!I THINK I AM PREGNANT’ i just noticed in my country that there are a lot of red boxes which are out of public toilets, having condoms, its better this way because teenagers feel so shy buying it maybe,i mean i totally agree what you say.agreed.

Answer #9

See that’s what I dont understand about buying condoms. Why are so many teens shy about it? If I wanted condoms I go out and just buy them.

Answer #10

its you and your confident, some teens are not like that and may feel shy about it..and that is why the government gives us free condoms haha… it is better to take condoms from public toilet.

Answer #11

I agre with yahica, it is a sensitive topics and often teens will have sex without protection because they feel too shy or judged when asking for protection.

Answer #12

I agree 100 percent that birth control should be freely available to anyone who feels they need or want it. I dont know what types of kids yall hang around but when i was younger if yoou were going to have sex you were going to do it with or without having birthcontrol at your fingertips. Even though condoms are freely available to young people, they are often used improperly and they can break, which is why the pill should be easier to get and free, i woulld much rather see the numbers of teens having safe sex going up if it means the numbers of teen pregnancy going down. Teens having sex isnt a problem….theyve been doing it forever and will continue to do it…what we need to do is make it easier for them to protect themselves.

Answer #13

I AGREE COMPLETELY, im 16 and i dont believe in having sexx until your married but i am on birth control. i have a lot of health issues and some have to deal with my periods.. i had manyexcruciationg periods until my doctor though i was old enough to be on the pill. if was freely available i would have been in a lot less pain!

Answer #14

I agree! To many girls are getting preggo these days.

Answer #15

I think it should be freely available and easy to get for people who need it.

A comment earlier stated how having access to birth control may increase sexual activity amongst teenagers. In light of that - we also presume that teenagers are fooling around more now than they did even fifty years ago.

Is that true though? Or could it be a massive infection of denial amongst older people? Perhaps, the truth lies in the difference of how open we are about our sex lives today vs. how taboo it was considered to discuss (or admit) previously.

I think the bottom line is that people do have sex. We can choose to either force moral obligations on teens that will leave them feeling unsure about themselves and even guilty - if they get-off alone- or we can accept it is something that happens and target real issues that can actually be quantified such as pregnancy and disease.

To try and force people into not having sex is ridiculous. It is a natural instinctual behavior that is required for our species to continue in existence. It is hard-wired into us just like our need to eat. To put that into context - the media industry has helped push a lot of young women into not eating. Now think just how great anorexia has worked out.

Answer #19

Answer #20

I also agree

Answer #21

It should be easy but it can’t be at your corner drug store because there are significant side effects. Especially if too early in life or too much. There needs to be some control too.

Answer #22

i agree. also, it would temp more teens to have sex and it can’t protect you 100% of the time
