What causes EXTREME weight loss?

Ive been losing weight this last year, but moderatly. This last month i have lost 20 pounds for no reason whatsoever….I mean im still in healthy weight range, but im kinda worried because i know that is too much, but why would this happen? I make sure to always stay hydrated, so its not water loss and i eat well

I don’t have much experience with extreme weight loss, but when I was in 7th grade I wanted to lose weight so badly.. I quit drinking anything with calories in it, and I ate less amounts of food during breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I still ate 3 times a day, just less amounts, no deserts or treats.. I ended up losing 45 pounds in a matter of about 5 months.. I still only drink things without calories besides tea, and still stick to my eating habbits, but considering I’m pregnant, I tend to dig into chocolate and cheetos a lot.. lol

not really helpful…whatsoever im not trying to lose weight

My bad, I didn’t read the description. But my best advice to you would be to consult a doctor. There could be something wrong internally.

Answer #4

Parasitic organisms are sometimes the cause, something like tape/ round worms are fairly common causes of rapid weight loss as the parasites eat the nutrients before your body can process them.. If you lost 20 lbs in the last month I would be checking in with your doctor for a checkup and mentioning it to them. The only thing I can think of would be an illness like the flu, but you didn’t mention being ill in the description.

That is a great answer and represents about the maximum real body tissue weight loss (as opposed to dehydration weight loss) that is realistic for anyone to attempt to lose safely over a period of 5 months. You achieved about 2 pounds weight loss per week over a prolonged period. Most people should feel that they have done very well if they keep up an average of one pound weight loss per week and happy with half that. You should know what your ideal weight is for your weight and height, and allow yourself the eat enough to maintain that ideal weight when you hit your target. After a prolonged period of weight loss it is quite easy to get obsessive about the process and continue to drive yourself towards a less healthy and underweight build.
