Who here has had an Endometrial Ablation?

How long did it take to heal? I had mine done yesterday and I’m in serious pain today…I’m wondering if that’s normal.

Answer #1

what is that? treatment or something right?

Answer #2

It’s when they cauterize the uterine walls.

Answer #3

That’s sounds horrific and painful. Why would you need that done? :’(

Answer #4

Excessive bleeding…it was preferable to a hysterectomy. I was told that it would take 3-4 days until I feel able to return to normal activity, but I’m just sitting here doing nothing and it’s quite painful.

Answer #5

yh why would you need to get that done?

Answer #6

I looked it up. I want to cry. In the deffinition it said the proceedure is ment to “destroy the uterine lining.” I would think that you’d be in some pain the next day. The pain level could possibly depend on the method they used. Maybe give the doc a call?

Answer #7

It was a gold mesh thing they insert into the uterus, then use electrical charges to burn the uterine lining….apparently, the pain should only require some ibuprofen to ease it, but I almost feel like I’m in labour…ugh…

Answer #8

Maybe you’re one of the are ones who expirence more pain and the majority of othersonly ned ibuprofen for the pain?

Answer #9

lol..usually I deal with things like this quite well…this is the first time I’ve come out of a surgery in this much pain. I’m wondering if something went wrong….

Answer #10

Aha, hey, i’m putting in an effort to help. It’s hard to try and help someone who already knows so much and seems to be abe to help with everyone elses problems. Maybe something did go wrong. :(

Answer #11

lol…no worries….I didn’t really expect too many people to be able to answer - I’m just reaching out …talking to someone about it helps too, at any rate :)

Answer #12

:D Yay. I sort of figured that. :)

Answer #13

I have never had the procedure done, but I know that severe pain after this procedure isn’t exactly normal.

Usually, a woman may feel cramps or pressure after this procedure…but it shouldn’t be severe pain.

I believe something went wrong, not sure what though. I have heard of women having severe pain after the procedure, then developing an infection a couple of days later.

If the pain persists, I would defiantly call your doctor. I am pretty sure it’s not normal. I hope every thin goes okay, and I hope you get to feeling better. :(
