Does anyone know if employers actually look at applications turned in over the internet?

People have told me they don’t really check up on them too much compared to paper applications.

Answer #1

Yeah they do, its way easier. If you meet the criteria, it automatically sends it to the employer.

Answer #2

Many employers are now ONLY accepting applications over the Internet (at least in the UK) so I guess they must look at them.

Answer #3

I know most employers who have it avalible do. Such places like Pizza Hut and large corps do because your application is processed through there main system and sent over to the specific area you applied to. If you really need the job, however, it is a better idea to do it in person. It makes you more memorable.

Answer #4

I think employers do prefer online CV as it is quicker to access. Also, bear in mind, a lot of employers now check social network sites to see what their future potential employees are up to in their private life. So if you have the best CV in the world, but on your Facebook, Myspace you post x-rated photos or have drunk photos of yourself or have silly immature status updates, the chances of your future employer seeing them is high.

Answer #5

I have heard conflicting advice on this. To be safe, follow up an email resume with some sort of personal contact. That will make sure that they actually remember you while going through the resumes. And I have actually been asked to hand over a resume while making that personal contact, so keep a few hard copies with you.
