Emancipation is when a person under the age of 18 is allowed to conduct business or any occupation on their own behalf without the approval of a parent. It is hard to become emancipated the easiest way is to get married. Emancipation literally means to be free from the control of another.
All true, but it is really much more general than that. It simply means to be freed of someone or something. You history buffs will recall the Emancipation Proclamation. That was not about freedom from your parents, but I got a D in history so who the hell knows.
