Does a dry nose mean my dog is sick?

If my dog has a dry nose and warm pads, does that mean she’s sick?

Answer #1

It means that they are really dehydrated or that they are ill. Provide PLENTY of frest cold water and you should be fine.

Answer #3

yes

Answer #4

Well my dogs nose is always wet and sometimes dry. No it doesn’t mean your dog is sick. It just means your dog isn’t getting enough of something. So try going outside with your dog and running around with it. Maybe it’ll help. But if not try giving your dog some treats or regular dog food and some water. Also maybe your dog need attention which all dogs really want. So I hope this helps and take good care of your dog!

Answer #5

Answer #6

Answer #7

check the dog’s temperature and give the dog a big pan full of water!:)

Answer #8

A dog’s (or cat’s) nose may be very wet and cool one moment then be warmer and not-so-moist the next. All in the course of a day. A hot, dry nose doesn’t mean that a dog has a fever.

You can tell a raised temperature only by checking the lower abdomen or the inside of the thighs. If these areas feel unusually warm even when the dog hasn’t been exercising you should take the dogs temperature. (which can be unpleasant…)

Use a thin, ubreakable thermometer. The digital kind with the signal tone is best because it reacts more quickly than regular ones.Lubricate the tip with Vaseline. Then hold the standing dog steady (it helps to have two people),lift up it’s tail, and insert the thermometer,at a slight upward angle,a little over 1 inch (3 cm) into the rectum. The regular old fashioned thermometers have to be kept in place for 2 to 3 minutes.A digital thermometer can be removed after one minute (after the sound of the signal). If the temperature is above 102.2’F (39 ‘C) in a small dog or or above 101.3 ‘F (38.5 ‘C) in a big dog, this has to be considered a fever.A temperature that is below normal (below 100.4 ‘F or 38 ‘C) can also be a sign of illness.

If your dog is sick don’t give her any treats that can be hoarded(that take a while to chew) like rawhides or pigs ears. They will harbor viruses. Only give the dog treats that can be eaten quickly.

Be sure to provide plenty of water. If the dog becomes lethargic or looses it’s appetite take it to the vet right away.

Answer #9

Probably dehydrated. Fevourish, maybe a lil tired or too hot.

Answer #10

If it feels like that at night, no. My dog has a hot nose at night, but shes fine.

Answer #11

It means they are sick (or have a fever…) but sometimes they go really quick. If it hasn’t gone within a day or longer than I think you should take your dog to the vet for a check up.

Answer #12

My dog has plenty of water, no temperature, and always has a dry scaly nose. What would that mean then?

Answer #13

My mom told me a dog suppose to have a wet nose. If it’s dry that mean the dog is sick.

Answer #14

Contrary to popular belief, the wetness, dryness, warmness, or coldness of a dog’s nose has absolutely no bearing on the actual health of the dog.

Answer #15

yes on the dry nose but no to the warm pads my dog has warm pads and is in perfect condition the dry nose might mean that either it has a cold or its dying go see a vet immediately for references

Answer #16

I doesnt neccessarily mean your dog is sick, but I would get your dog checked out just to be on the safe side but I dont think anything is wrong with your dog

Answer #17

Your dog might have a fever, check it’s tempature. If it’s higher then 100 then go see your vet.Supply your puppy some nice water,a cool place to sleep, and if you feed your pup some dry food try to moisten it by adding a tiny bit of water in the bowl so your dog can have a healthy diet there!

Answer #18

a dogs nose is ussually dry when it is tired or sleeping. A dogs nose gets wet when it is trying to smell things. The moisture tracks scents better. A wet or dry nose ussually has nothing to do with illness. If its temp is above 102 then it has a fever.

Answer #19

A dry nose does not necessarily equal a sick dog. Find out what a dry nose can mean here. Go to the nearest Veternity Doc
