To be honest cold water is prob what got you that sore throat & cough to begin with... I personally drink tea with honey because it is a natural remedy guaranteed to help sooth the throat! Also I would try a cough suppressant like Ricola...swiss herb....made of all natural herbs from peppermint, lemon balm, linden flowers, horehound, elder, wild sage hyssop & a few others....it helps fight coughs naturally while also soothing the throat! If you feel like this in 2 days I would begin a throat rinse... gargle a glass of luke warm water & some salt...about 3 times a day for 2-3 days...it should be gone by then Avoid cold bev's stick with the good old fashion chicken soup & loads of water so you dont dehydrate. if you are still feeling the same or there is no change what so ever I advise you to seek help from your doc.
Feel Better & hope this helps.
From the doctor's mouth, cold water does not cause colds or sore throats, and it is not actually harmful.
That's an old wives tale that seems to persist with older women for some unknown reason.
My mother asked her brother because I kept insisting that, and despite hearing it from a medical doctor, she won't believe it!
Actually cold water can soothe a sore throat in the same way as hot water. I often suckle ice or drink cold water when I have a sore throat as it relieves it and even my doctor told me to do it. It's not true that it causes sore throats.
Yes, it's very bad. It will make your condition worse. It may possible that the cough will store at your mind and can create headache. So, avoid to drink cold water or any cold products at that time.
