You know that’s a good question. Lol my sister snores all the time when she’s awake! I thought it was wierd at first too but later I found out that its literally because she’s black!!! your gunna flip your wig when you hear this so here goes: have you ever noticed black people tend to be more irritable around there nostrals than any other ethnicity? They tend to put there upper lip on there nose or pick at it more than usual or sniffle often??? Well its because there noses are wider than other races… Lmao! See when a dog has a more “longer” nose it has more defence against smells and bacteria, but when the dogs nose is NOT long and instead wide, it doesn’t have that good of a defence. If your training your dog to sniff out people or items fast then I’d suggest a dog like mines… A pit bull. But for long distance tracking I’d suggest a golden retriever or a german shepard. Lol funny story right???

Breeds with shorter snouts tend to snore more, like my dog is snoring right now!!! If it just started you might want to ask a vet about it other than that it’s not a big deal.

Answer #4

it’s advisable to take her to a vet to make sure that she doesn’t have blocked sinuses or trouble breathing etc. I am not sure whether chow chows are breeds that are known for snoring.

I have a basset that snores like a tractor…but bassets are breeds that are famous for snoring, and I’ve noticed what does help is putting a blanket over her (it doesn’t work for too long, but it does lessen the sound (but then again maybe cause the blanket is blocking it) :) worth a try?

Answer #5

I’m not sure WHY dogs snore, I guess it is the same reason we snore. But anyway, all dogs will snore at one point and time, some just do more often. I have a pekingese/chihuahua mix dog, and he snores all the time, and sometimes will even wake me up, but unless it sounds like she is having trouble breathing, like gasping for air, or even stops breathing for a while, then talk to your local veterinarian. Hope I helped. (:
