does biking burns a lot of calories ?
Well it depends how long you do it. If you do it for fifteen minutes, you might burn some calories, but if you are really hard core and do it for 45 minutes or an hour or two, you will burn a lot more calories. Plus, if you eat back all those calories, you won't lose any weight if that is what your goal is. Peace!
Like all exercise the amount of calories burnt depends on duration and intensity.
Puttering around coasting most of the time won't burn many calories. If you go a demanding speed and keep at it than you will burn more.
I'll put it this way, I have a friend who takes a spin class(staionary bikes) and she has lost 67lbs in 5 months.

YES it does burn alotta calories.
