I have a apointment with a doctor on thursday because my family think i siffer with depression,i know i do sometimes.but i dont know what to expect when i get thair and i want to be a little prepared.but i dont know how they will determine if i need anti-depressants
Every doctor is different...not always will a doctor rush to prescribe anti depressant pills! If the doctor really thinks you need them then they will write you a prescription for it. Just be yourself & remember that you are there to just talk about what has been troubling you & hopefully it will only mean that you need a few sessions not necessarily you needing to be on Prozac!
Again, it all depends how they feel you are as to hurting yourself or a danger to yourself...according to that they will make their final decision!
Good luck!
Quite frankly, I dont think a physician should be prescribing an antidepressant pill and I dont understand why they're allowed to. Also, if you're looking for a formula, there isnt one. I can give you the DSM criteria for depression, but that isnt a formula for whether a doctor should prescribe an antidepressant or not...
