Do you have to cut out black hair dye?

I’m planning on dying my hair black but my hairstylist said you have to cut it out. I recently got temporary black hair dye but I’m not sure it’ll come out. (I only got temporary because I’m not sure I’ll like it.) Anyway, I’m really confused and don’t want to ruin my original hair color. Please help me!!!

It’s a redish color but that’s of course hair dye. Originally I have a sort of red/light brown/ maybe a tad bit of blonde.

hey, I died my hair black and went to so many salons to get a colour correction and no one had the confidence to do it (their own words!!) I finally went to toni and guy and okay I payed £100 for it out of christmas money but was well worth it, my hair wasnt damaged and turned out a lovley warm brown, if you dye your hair black and dont like it, then a colour correction is all thats needed (im now a hairdresser for toni and guy), just go to a good salon that would be willing to do it as most will say you cant strip it for some reason, a colour correction is when they will pre-lighten your hair with peroxide then see the result and sit down and choose a lighter brown or whatever colour you did want, pre-colour it with a semi-permanent then apply the final colour. If your hair does feel a bt dry then olive oil helps a lot, dampen your hair and apply through the length and ends but not the roots to avoid it getting greasy, leave on for 5 mins then rinse off thoroughly. Hope that helped xx

I dyed my hair temporary black.. it NEVER came out.. so I tried to stripp it out.. it’s completely ruined. not only did I damage my hair worse, but I also got the wrong colour afterwards… now I’m stuck with it.. I’m just going to grow it out and cut it… I don’t care how funny it looks but up to this point, it’s the best and only thing I can do. :( I regret it much too.

Yes, don’t strip your hair! I have dyed by hair permenent black for a few years now but late last year I decided that I wanted it a different colour. My mum is a hairdresser and she told me to grow it out. It will take awhile but once it’s grown out, your hair will be healthy and not completely destroyed from stripping. So you don’t have to cut it out, just grow it out. Never use permenent black dye hair. It’s the worst thing to do as you can’t just dye over it. Nothing goes over black, except if you want to strip it which I do NOT recommend.

if it doesnt work and you dont like it just let it grow out afterwards. dyeing your hair is awesome, but black is kinda risky. Good luck though!
