What is the difference between hardwood flooring & laminate flooring?

Answer #1

Well, I’ve never had a laminate first thing in the morning.

Answer #2

A big difference.

Hardwood is “real” wood such as oak, walnut, ect. It usually has to be nailed down, sanded and finished. Sometimes it is cut “tongue and groove” to help with fitting together. It’s more expensive and requires alittle more work to maintain.

Laminate on the other hand is a manufactured flooring. It’s made from pressed wood with a very durable wood like appearance on top…………(it comes in many styles and qualities, most are very good) It’s less expensive and easier to install with interlocking channels. You don’t nail it down, just snap it together. Most have about a 20 year warranty and it is the most popular way to go with flooring.

There are some important things to know when installing it………….I have installed it in 4 rooms in my house……………..really like it. If you have any questions, Let me know.

Answer #3

Nicely put. I myself have always been rather partial to a bit of tongue and groove in the bedroom.
