Did I ruin my cake?

I made a chocolate cake from scratch and after it was in the oven, I realized that I had left out a cup of sugar (I only put in 2, not 3 like the recipe called for). Is it ruined?

Probably not - I’ve done this before and it should be OK (not perfect, but OK)! I’d give it a sweeter icing thank you planned… Best of luck!

Your cake will be fine! Not as sweet as the recipie calls for but it’ll be fine, its not like you forgot ALL the sugar. A lot of cakes don’t even need 3 cupsof sugar so I would just forgive yourself for such a tiny mistake and move on, I’m sure it’ll be delicious!

If you are still worried about the flavour of your cake I’d do what flossheal said- add a sweeter icing- otherwise I’m sure everything will be fine.
