Q and a about depression?

I’m a 14 year old girl who has been really depressed lately. It all started when my boyfriend dumped me a week ago. Ever since then, life has been going downhill. I am starting to really worry all my friends, and myself. We had a concert tonight, and watching my ex perform just made me cry. I was the only one that knew the reason behind my tears. So much is happening! Now it’s hard to have fun, get into spirit, sleep, and even to eat. I’ve been told to go out and have fun with some friends. After the concert, we ate and ran around Wal-Mart (haha) and that was only a temporary solution though. It hurts again now. I thought I was over my ex, but now I’m wondering if that’s the main reason I feel like I do. Please, is there any good advice out there to help turn my life around again for good? Thanks… love ya all!!

If you think you’re depressed… TALK TO SOMEONE!

If you are concerned about depression in yourself or a friend, TALK TO SOMEONE WHO CAN HELP. There are many people who you can talk to:

a psychologist your school counselor your parents, or a trusted family member your family doctor your clergy
a professional at a mental health center Remember - Depression can affect people of any age, race, ethnic, or economic group God Bless You !!

Give it time. i dated a guy and i swear he was the love of my life. I cried for almost 2 years over little things like coming across a picture of him or our song coming on the radio. And believe me it hurt like hell, But After time. I became alright. I took in my friends and went out as much as I could. And with the help of them I was totally over him. Just hang in there it will be ok :0)

If this is all over a guy, then don’t worry, like the last person said, you’ll heal in time. In the mean time though, surround yourself with family and friends and the things you love most. You said you went to your ex’s concert? That is one BIG no! Try not to think about him or do anything that reminds you of him until you’re sure you’re over him. If none of this works, you should see a therapist, which will help a lot. Therapy doesn’t mean you’re crazy, it just means that you need a little help. I don’t reccommend taking pills for depression, because it’s easy to get addicted and there are a lot of nasty side effects. Well, I hope all goes well, peace! P.S. Don’t worry, you’ll eventually find another guy who you care about just as much as the last, don’t waste your life crying over him, he’s probably not worth it anyway.

I am 51 years old & also suffer from depression so I have tried these things & found out they do help! (#1) Get a new notebook & write what you feel or how you feel inside. Keep it hid where no one else can see it, IT IS YOUR BOOK! (#2) Do lots of coloring in coloring books! Both of these help me alot so I do recommend them! Good luck & God Bless! And find an adult to talk to that you trust & that will keep what ever you say just between the two of you!

Give yourself time to heal..it has only been a week since you broke up but you are handling it very bravely by going out with friends and with your friendly way you are bound to increase the friends or level of friendships that you already have..it is ok to cry and grieve for the relationship that has suddenly stopped so don’t try to pretend that you are not hurting when you are..the pain will eventually go..in the meantime figure out what you can do to take your mind off things and even helping others helps you to be able to do that
