The procedure to delete personal information varies depending on your browser.
I would point out that deleting files does not magically remove all data from your disk. Most of it is still available if someone goes to a little trouble to retrieve it. If your browsing history contains sensitive information that you need to know is gone doing a DOD style disk wipe is the only safe way.Darik's Boot And Nuke DBAN is a free tool that looks like a very secure way to wipe your disks.
on google crome .... ctrl+H.. then chosse edit items ...tick the boxes of the ones you want to delete and select 'remove seleted items' or else just press clear all browsing data... but you cant actually delete history for good.. someone can allways check it.. but that hides it.. people will probably only find it if they actually know what history there looking for
'ctrl+shift+delete' will bring a window up front where you can select to delete you browsing history from 1 hour to everything.. or do you want to delete your actual laptop history from opened files etc etc?
oh and again if your using google chrome and you dont want to worry about deleting history.. chose the settings icon at the top (the wrench) and select new incognito window and it wont save any history
