Who said the following:
"In regard to religion, mutual toleration in the different professions thereof is what all good and candid minds in all ages have ever practised, and, both by precept and example, inculcated on mankind."
""People have been twisted from the true meaning of the phrase."" Yes and now your 1 of them
"" That no government would enforce a certain religion."" Right
"" It is, as above, separation OF church and state, not separation FROM church and state."" That's asinine. They weren't trying to separate you from a religion or a state. They were trying to separate the church and the state. That statement makes no sense.
"" We have been given the freedom to chose a right relationship with our Creator, or not."" That's a very single minded view. How about to believe on a Creator or not, or to believe in a different Creator?
Warmheart, how can there be separation "of" without separation "from"?
Either the state is involved in religion, or it is not. If it is, then there is no separation "of". The Constitution protects my freedom "FROM" imposition of your religion on me, just as it protect you "FROM" imposition of my nonreligion on you.
Your right to practice religion as you see fit, is predicated on my right to do the same.
"People have been twisted from the true meaning of the phrase. That no government would enforce a certain religion. It is, as above, separation OF church and state, not separation FROM church and state. "
Nobody is trying to separate you from your precious church. We're just trying to stop you pushing it on everyone else through government.
People have been twisted from the true meaning of the phrase. That no government would enforce a certain religion. It is, as above, separation OF church and state, not separation FROM church and state. We have been given the freedom to chose a right relationship with our Creator, or not.
It is, as above, separation OF church and state, not separation FROM church and state.
Oh try harder... that makes so sense whatsoever...
We have been given the freedom to chose a right relationship with our Creator, or not.
You're delusional.
