How can you tell if a cut is infected?

i have an open wound on my leg that is somewhat deep and im not sure if its getting infected or not, but it seems to have white stuff inside of it =l

The white stuff might be pus :S is it red around the edges? Go see a doctor.

well it is a fresh wound so its still irritated around the edges so yea its red.

If it is red, sore, an swollen around the cut. It also maybe warm to the touch, have a bad smell, and seep fluid. Unless it’s a puncture wound…. you can probably take care of it at home with sea salt soaks and dry bandages. if you get a fever you need antibiotics
