How do you get your crutches to stop hurting under your arms?

my friend said that it shouldnt hurt because you arent supposed to put them under your arms but… where are you supposed to put them ???? i tried like putting them on my side but it just made me fall….

Answer #1

You go to a drug store and get some pads that are made just for crutches.

Answer #2

You should be putting your weight on your hands/wrists, not on your underarms. Make sure the crutches are properly adjusted for your height. You can damage nerves etc, if you put your weight on underarms.

Answer #3

If ur arm pits r hurtin u r useing them the wrong way, ur hands shud hurt not ur pits, thr e sensitive nerves in ur arm pits and the crutch hurts them so use ur hands more than ur pits

Answer #4

If they hurt under your arms, they may be too tall for you. They should be under your arms, but not pushing into your arm pit as your weight goes on your hands on the handle bits. Maybe you need slightly shorter ones.

Answer #5

They do go under the arms, the best thing you can do, is put small towels folded up where you put your arms so it’s patted. They do hurt, specially when you are berly using it and stuff like that so it’s not something wrong,

Answer #6

A cheap way it to wrap dish towels around them and use ‘em like that (:

Answer #7

You can buy pads OR if you want to save money, take bath towels, fold them, and rubberband them to the top of the crutch!
