Collection call harrassment

I have credit card companies/colection agencies calling me and threatening to garnish my wages & sue me& put a lien on my house because I AM BEHIND DUE TO AN EMEGENCY SITUATION. I am working with a debt relief company but they may take a while. How far do these companies usually go with the threats before they actually take action. It is mentall & physically killing me. My Debt relief company says I should ignore the calls. They say the collection companies will say & threaten anything to get me to pay.Is this true? Will they come blazing into my job to garnish my wages? I am trying to sell my homne to pay my bills off. Can they stop the selling of my home?

Actually you sound like your in a serious crisis. But 1 thing i learned is that if your friend gets laid off its a recesion but if you get laid of its a depression u see what im saying? Basically the debt relief rep can tell u to ignore the calls but he/she is not the one getting the harassing calls. I as well know what its like to have them call my house. What the credit company’s dont understand is that you can only pay the minimum payment b/cuz thats all you can afford, Which is why congress raised the minnimum payment. But dont 4get they changed the bankrupcy laws as well, and they make you go to credit counseling before your claim can be approved and that takes 6 MONTHS. Trust me i work in financial services to help people get out of debt and i see this shit ALL THE TIME. If i were you i would go to credit counseling now so if your in this trouble 6 months from now and have to file bankrupcy they’ll let you keep your house and other assests

I am in debt and being harrassed - they are now contacting my two sons by mail and an unlisted phone number of my other son. I have just found this out today sunday, april 30th. I have not given this information to creditors or lawyers and my sons were not even aware of this. I have beeen slowly going crazy, but now they have pushed to limits in contacting my children who have no fault in this. only me. I do not have any money to pay, Ipaid all I could. I am broke with only social security. they threaten, slam the phone. and they call me a thief. they are trying to turn my children aganest me

From a lawyers standpoint, Are your sons also in debt? If not this DOES classify as a tort. If they harrass anyone who does not owe them, simply put, it can psychological or physically mess them up, therefore is a tort and they can be sued for psychological damages and mental trauma. Of course, if you tell them this they will back off. Trust me it works with some company still trying to get 25$ from me. they called my house day and night for a month threatening with a lawsuit and messed with a family member, so the next call I told them this, and that even if I was a thief, they would have to prove my possession of another person cash or items. Due to the contract, it was considered mine whereas for them, they were traumatizing my children and I would see them in court.

never got a call after that.
