HOW can u tell if a cocktails birds are getting old are young ?

Answer #1

Their lifespan is generally 15-20 years although there have been reports of up to 38! The melanin content decreases in the face of the males as they mature, allowing the yellow and orange colours to be more visible, while an increase in melanin content in the tail causes the disappearance of the horizontal yellow tail bars. The facial feathers also thin out.

how can u tell if they are female or male because i have two cocktail but its hard to tell them apart . but one die the gray one die he not with us anymore i miss him so much u konw . the gray one was sick and old so he give up .how can u tell if they are sick

Answer #3

Aww I’m sorry to hear that. Telling the sex apart depends on the type of cockatiel. Do you know if it’s a normal grey, pearl, lutino or pieds lutino? Check images online if you’re unsure.

As for telling if they are sick, the birds will refuse to eat or drink. Keep track of their weight. A weight loss of a few grams a day is a sign of illness. Other symptoms: fluffed up, cranky, sleepy, change in vocalising, change in colour or change in frequency or consistency of droppings.

Answer #4

that’s true they Gery one would fall of the rod and he would go back on it and he would sleep a lot during the day and when he is sleeping he would accident fall off the round and he would stay in a corner of the cage floor just sleeping a lot
