Choosing Units for AS Levels

Hi there, is it possible to choose which units to take in an A Level course if you wish to only get an AS?

And I’m just wondering. I browsed AQA’s A Level specification guide for a subject. There are things such as HIS131 (Cold War), HIS132 (something), Choose from 13 optional units, etc etc… What are they? Does it mean that in studying for A Levels, one get to choose not only which subjects to take but also UNITS and SUB-UNITS (whatever)?

thanks a lot

Hi,

yes, in most schools there will be required things (like the HIS classes) and then optional credits. For those units, you get to choose at free will. At least in America. They are called electives here.
