Which Career is better, an Animal Control Officer, or a Vet that works with small animals?

Answer #1

The better career is the one that pays you the salary you require.

Answer #2

There is no “better” career in general. You need to pick the one that you have the most interest in, suites the lifestyle you want, and will pay you the salary you want to make. Call your local vets and shelters and find out if they would be willing to let you talk to someone in the career your thinking about and possibly if they would allow you to watch them work for a day.

Answer #3

Who you would you rather help? Ill and injured animals? Or.. Animals who are neglected and abused?

Answer #4

Both….

Answer #5

It depends on your personality

Answer #6

I love animals. I would pick animal control officer, as that is what i have always wanted to be since i was younger. :)

Animal control officer: You have to be able to look at gross thing though, peoples houses filled with trash, dead animals, abused animals, people screaming at you for taking their animals, and so on. Do you want that? It is very rewarding i think though to be able to save animals, you have to be a very strong person, but not many people can do what they do.

Small Animal Vet: You would get to do things with little animals, and you could always have to see sick animals, or even deliver animals. There always is the chance you will be neutering animals, or surgury. :)

Answer #7

There is no “better” one , go with the one the interests you the most and think you can do the best in.

Answer #8

I love animals to…. I think if I was to be an Animal Control Officer, I would be able to be strong, but seeing the Animals in Pain and suffering…. It would kill me.

Answer #9

Veterinarians have a higher median salary, but require more higher education. You will see animals suffering in both professions, however a vets office will offer a somewhat controlled environment. Being an animal control officer means that you may have to deal with disgruntled “owners” on their property, as well as confront aggressive animals that have been abused and neglected. There are risks involved in both, but I’d be more inclined to go with veterinarian. Just be sure and keep your grades up. Vet school is competitive!

Answer #10

I would say vet =]

Answer #11

just depends on which one u like the best, or would perfer doing. Although it also can depend on how much money u need at the time to keep things running. But if moneys not a issue than I would pick the one thats most enjoyable, cuz when u enjoy ur job it makes it alot eaisier to do.
