I got my dog microchipped when he was 6 months old 5 months ago now, I've found a small tube like lump in his neck, could this be the microchip? Anyone have any advice?
I had my cat microchipped at the start of this year- it really is a tiny microchip, about the size of a grain of rice, which is injected ijust under the skin in the back of the neck. I'm pretty sure it can't move, or if it can, it'd only be by a few millimetres. The best way to find out if to give your vet a quick call. If your vet thinks it might be something to worry about, or you're still worried, take your dog in to see a vet. It's worth it to know your pet is okay. :)
I used to be a vet tech and yes if not properly place in the trapezius muscle it can move to other parts of the body. and no you will not be able to feel the microchip being as it is only the size of a grain of rice or smaller.
a micochip can move I should know I have aroud 16 dogs.but a microchip is the size of rise it is most likey a infection around the microchip. but then if its rice like it might be the microchip. if your worryed go to the vets.
I agree with what lex icon said. I would call the vet and tell them about the little lump. They will probably ask you to bring him in so they can take a look, but its worth it. Good Luck!
Thanks very much for your answers, I am a little worried as its unusually like a tube?? I'll take him to the vets asap. Thanks again.
Yes they do move,
Both my dogs have chips, and the move about a lot...
How strange!
