Which is better to buy - cage or cage free chicken eggs?

Answer #1

if you dont like to torture animals then cage free is a whole lot better for the chickens! :)

Answer #2

Depends what point you’re looking at. Cage because it’s cheaper. Cage free because the chickens are treated nicer and get a nicer quality of life compared to those in cages. To tell you the truth my parents did buy the caged eggs because it’s cheaper and taste no different to cage free.

Answer #3

There is actually little difference. There is no legal meaning to cage free; anyone say there eggs come from cage free farms. Free Range has a legal meaning but this is misleading. All that is necessary is for hens to have access to outdoors at least part of the day but in practice the hens do not take advantage of this. If you care about animals you should look for pastured eggs. This means chickens live on a pasture where they can happily peck at worms, grubs, and seeds in addition to their feed. You are also better off buying from a local farmer so you can visit and confirm that the animals are treated humanely.

Answer #4

there=their.

Answer #6

My dad is of the opinion that free range eggs taste better but regardless on an ethical level you should buy cage free rather than caged =]

Answer #7

I almost cry when I see the chickens in those cages at the county fair, it makes me want to protest.
