Firstly, you have to know who is the target audience. Is it for children or adults or in general? Also what is the purpose of the poster? Eg, A young buddhist camp poster or Buddhism concert poster? I believe if it is for general public, make it as simple and informative as possible. you can include a Buddha image meditating under a tree, a Buddha standing on lotus flower etc. Does it help? =)

If it’s for posters and is going to be in writing, it’s a good idea to remember that Siddhartha Gautama (note the spelling) is known as the ‘Historical Buddha’ .Many Buddhists believe that there are/have been/will be an infinite number of truly enlightened beings (which is what ‘buddha means - it is not an individual name, but a description) and that in Siddhartha Gautama, a prince of the Sakya clan of Kapilivastu, the Buddha of our historical era was born.
