Need help with a project.

Hello everyone!!! I was wondering if you could help me with a little project of mine, all I ask for are the tough questions concerning Christian theology. For example straw man theory, I already have a few of them and want to make sure I have all my bases covered. 2000 years ago was an age of rampant superstition and uncritical magical thinking. Miracle men (basically illusionists and scam artists like Benny Hinn) were a dime a dozen. The idea that gods would descend to earth, change the course of history, and rise back to heaven was a common Greek theme. Legendary heos abounded and It was common to invent ‘biographies’ for them. Further, ideas such as passivism, asceticism, and the golden rule were well known.

Here’s the question then.

Given this background, why would a real god choose to arrive at such a gullible period of time, in congruence with a common Greek theological theme, perform tricks very similar to what the hucksters were doing, say a bunch of wisdom sayings that were already common in the culture, and then leave only hero biographies as evidence of it all?
