Boss taking money

I went and got my taxes done today. I work at a home day care, so my boss’ husband does my payroll and whatnot. I had a feeling that they weren’t taking out the correct amount, and when I did my taxes today (H&R Block), the lady told me that all year my boss has been taking out TWICE the amount for social security then she was supposed to. She owes me $1,221. Anyway, I just wanted to know what I’m supposed to do, like report it to Social Security or what?

You’d want to report it to the local bureau of labor…there is a state department of labor you can file a complaint with in any given state, so start filing one against your employer. There are penalties they have to pay, if I’m not mistaken, and you can get help at a local dept of labor office, usually if you need it.

Thank you, H&R Block corrected my w-2 and turned it in to the IRS and my boss payed me back. Thanks!
