Dogs aren't "stubborn" so much as they aren't as good at communicating with us as others. Try new tactics to communicate with your dog - if your dog is being "stubborn" about learning a new command, or learning to stop doing a behavior, try Googling other methods of teaching that behavior.
Remember, dogs don't speak and therefore do not listen well. They respond best to body signals (as a dog trainer, I always use hand signals with my commands), as that is what they use with each other.
I found training with hand signals to be far easier then verbal commands and my dogs far more receptive to it as they seem to pick up on hand signals quicker then distinguishing verbal commands.
It's the personality of your dog. Although breeds are known to by and large share similar behaviors ...there's always exceptions in some. Yours is going with the status quo
