Who believes that the James Bond movies and sequels portray women in a sexist manner?

so last night i was watching james bond, ya know the movie about teh secret agen OO7 and as i was watching and staring at halle berry coming out of the water on a gorgeouse beach i noticed something, in all the movies women have been potrayed as mere objects of $ex and only there to pleasure the men and attend to the sexual desires of the men, for soem reason it seems that the only purpose fro women in those movies is to walk around in a bikini sleeping with the agents it seems the only woman with a purpose fro good is judy dench and even she isnt like the other women in it, she seems more of the older women, more of a mother figure to bond, from even the names such as pu$$y galore… in my opinion this is a il bit disrespectful to women, however u could argue that it is a lil bit of fun and is just a movie for teh entertainmeant purpose… wha do u think? pls share your opinions?

i think they did it to bring in people to watch them. they tried to get the “hottest” women for more men go to watch the movie. they no men would bring their gfs to the movies so more revenue. i think it is stupid that they never have the girl do much in them. but it always ends the same way, douche bond on top of her at the end of the movie. im not a fan of the 007 movies.

The target audience is men, it’s not something to be worried about the film makers are more bothered about money than sexism, I quite enjoy the films though, in casin0 royal I think it is, the woman saves 007 a few times aswell,we are useful :D

Answer #3

yh but women can watch it to

Answer #4

The films do objectify women quite a lot. Even though the target audience is for men, I still think that women should have a more productive part in the films than looking ‘hot’ ¬¬

i agree

Answer #7

Yes though the recent movies are better than in the past. In early Bond movies women are only there as sexual conquest and to be saved but in recent Bond films women are essential to the success of Bond’s mission or even save Bond.

Really though, a LOT of movies, I’d even say most movies objectify women a lot. Take for instance those racing movies, they always have the men with the nice cars with a group of women around him. Do they forward the plot? No, they’re just there for sex appeal for men. Even in movies where the woman is the protagonist, more than often, they are dressed in ways that men will think is “hot”. All in all, women are objectified a lot in the media, I’m not saying men aren’t but no one can really deny it is the same amount as women are. I, obviously, don’t think highly of this at all, in fact, I rather hate it quite a lot, within any movie or advertisement really. I don’t see how it shows that women are equal to men, as well, it tells men and women that women are mere objects of desire and nothing more. Common, we are much more than just our bodies and we should be treated thus. That’s just my opinion, don’t mean to offend.

Look at Hollywood and compare men to women. How many of the famous, well paid, old, wrinkled, gray haired, actors are male and how many are female? Count them.

All the girls are young. Or look young. And sexy. There is no famous female Hollywood actor who is 65 and looks like it. Except, maybe, Helen Mirren.

The men? Jack Nicholson, Sean Connery, Robert de Niro, Woody Allen, Dustin Hoffman, Christopher Lee, John Malkovich, Steve Martin, Al Pacino, Robert Redford, Richard Geere, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis.

Answer #10

of course they do, it’s just supporting the idea that Mr. Bond is a total player and has it all: the charm and spy skills

Answer #13

This is a great question, Stefie; especially the last part: “in my opinion this is a il bit disrespectful to women, however u could argue that it is a lil bit of fun.” If you’ll allow me to sound my age for a moment, it shows that as you come of age you are thinking seriously about the complexities of becoming a woman. It’s not just about movies; it’s about who you want to be. Can you be respected and taken seriously (for your insight, your accomplishments, etc.) and still be sexy and fun, or do you have to choose? Millions of women think about this every morning as they decide what to wear for work.
