What's the average typing speed for adults?

I type about 35 wpm and about 217 cpm. Is that really slow?

I’m 30 wpm in this test (at 11:30 pm and I’m sleepy)… http://funadvice.com/r/155orgtb2h8 but I think it has long, complicated and unusual words.

I’m around 45 in simpler english text (and I took it that test in an afternoon) and between 50 and 60 when I type a text in German, my native tongue.

Yeah, but what is average. My dad types “eagle system” (encircle twice, then swoop). At an average of about 3 wpm. If they put people like him in, they will ruin everybodies average scores. :)
