What is the average price of a meal in DC?

I just am curious so I know how much money to bring. There wouldn’t be any super fancy restaurants. Or does anyone know how to get maps of restaurants in the area?

I have never actually been to DC but I imagine that, like most places, it varies. If you’re in the major, super nice city area the dinners will probably range from $8-$25. If you go to a super famous restaurant, possibly more.

As Bree said it varies. DC has a ton of carry-outs that offer super cheap eats, but many of them are in the “less desirable” neighborhoods.

Maggiano’s on Wisconsin Avenue has a great deal where you pay $12 for an entree and you get another entree to take home. The selections are limited, but the food tastes great! It’s italian food.

Ben’s chili bowl on U street has great chili cheese fries and chili dogs. Their sister restaurant “Next Door” is literally next door and has an expanded menu of yummy treats.

Chicken on the Run offers peruvian chicken with 2 sides for around $8. The portions are generous and the chicken is super juicy and flavorful. Its not too far from DC being in Bethesda.

Don Juan’s in Mount Pleasant has great Salvadorian food for super cheap as long as you go into the carry out portion of the place. The restaurant section is much more pricey. The carry-out is located on the side of the building.

A few blocks down from Don Juan’s is Ercillia’s. They have a similar menu to Don Juan’s with similar prices.

Florida Avenue Grill has awesome soul food in a cozy diner setting.

2 Amy’s pizza is fairly affordable with the most expensive pizza being $13. It tastes GREAT!

Jumbo Slice in Adams Morgan offers a huge slice of pizza for $5.

Tonic in Mount Pleasant has $.50 taco tuesday after 8 pm. As many tacos as you want for only 50 cents!

Booeymonger in Friendship heights (near Maggiano’s) is a delicious deli where the average sub is around $6.75

Nile on the Silver Spring/DC line has great Ethiopian food. Their meals average around $10-$12 but the portions are extremely generous.

Full Kee in China Town has amazing food and a lunch special menu for $6. The dinner menu is a bit pricey though.

Budgeting out $15-20 a meal should be enough to cover your tab. Of course you don’t have to spend that much every time you eat, but its nice to treat yourself now and then.

We have the chains like Chipotle, Potbelly, Fudruckers and what not that are always great in a pinch.

I guess the best websites to visit would be urban spoon or zagat. Hope this helps. Have fun here!
