(Australians should know what an atar is)
Two ways to get accepted into medicine Australia wide are: Do year 11 and 12, select all the compulsory subjects towards the end of the year 12 you sit for your big exams and reach the % you need to reach the cut off scores, the selected universities you have chosen will contact you and offer you a place. I know last year the cut off score was 81% out of 100%, the more school students who select a particular field or university, the highest the cut off score will be as they take the best students first.
The second way is to enter medicine as a mature age student, you can select to get into university at 26 for example or even as old as 35 onwards, but you need to have a lot of hands on experience and the work you are doing has to be relevant. You then get to sit a big exam which will determine you placing.
