Aquariums

Is there anyone out there that has ever seen white algae in their aquarium? I have an aquarium that had been set-up for over two years with no problems. One day all of the fish in there died! I cleaned the aquarium three times, completely washing gravel, letting tank cycle, but to no avail. Evertime I added fish they would die within a few days of placing them in the tank. The last time (presently) I set the tank up and I now have what appears to be WHITE algae. It is whispy an web-like. It actually looks like it has snowed in the tank. All parameters are good. I placed an algae eater in three weeks ago and he is still living. I added four swordtails three days ago and they are exhibiting strange behaviour. So,,, I assume they are going to die. Anyone ever heard or seen this wierd WHITE algae???

try and keep the tank clean and whenever you get a new fish keep it in the plastic bag and place it in the tank for 10 mins so the bag water gets to the same temp as the tank temp. Then slowly open the bag (cut with scissors)then let the fish swim out and take the bag out>>><<…!!!

First of all don’t risk touching it! Just through the aquarium in the garbage! And second of all STOP PUTTING ANIMAILS IN THE TANK IF YOU KNOW THEY ARE GONNA DIE! Thats just being cruel to nature!

Answer #4

Its not algea its something that fish produce when they are frightened which could be the fact that you have to many fish in the tank at once. Try only having 1 or 2 fish at a time, if it happens with just the two of them than you know that the fish you are purchasing are not the type to put together. Its like a puzzle. Start with the corner pieces and then work your way into it.

If your so smart, just tell me what it is and WHY I should’t touch it !!! I have six aquariums and have never had a problem like this before. I have followed all the standards of re-setting this tank up… I have tanks that range from 10 gal. to 50. I am an experienced aquarium enthusiast !!! This is a first for me and also for other aquarium enthusiasts in my area. So… Thanks for yor help !!!
