How much is an appropriate amount to spend on a child's birthday present when you've been invited to their birthday?

I wud say maybe 20 to 30 dollars at most

When I buy presents for very young children I dont spent that much - I like to take advantage of the fact that they dont rate things in terms of monetary value, grow out of or get bored of things quickly, and the liklihood of them being more enthusiatic about the wrapping then the gift itself. I put thought into the gift, but I dont spend a great deal. I would usually spend about $20 nz.

$20 is a good amount.

Depends on how much your willing to. I think the older they go the more the amount you spend increases. About $30 would buy him a great toy present. Some are willing to spend more because the person may mean a lot to them. It can also depend on how much you earn. However, you can be creative and not spend much at all and make him something creative instead.

I usually go between $20-$30. I think that anything above $30 is a little too much, especially since children do grow out of toys and the toys do tend to break after a certain amount of usage. I think that below $20 is a little bit too low, mostly because decent toys usually cost a little more than $5-$10. You usually get what you pay for, even if it’s just toy wise.
