What is your 'spending cap' for this Christmas?

My sister and I were discussing shopping today for Christmas gifts when the topic of a ‘spending cap’ came up. My sister basically said that she has a limit for each person in the family. I’ve never really done this personally, so I was wondering if any of you have a certain money spending limit this year? If you do, what’s yours for each person in your life? Or if you have a certain dollar amount in total for everyone, what is it?

Answer #1

50 dollars per person, except for my kids, they get more, 600 per child

unfourtunately …. 34 dollars

Answer #6

For gifts, I have a limit of $150 NZD for my mum and sister each, and $50NZD for everyone else. Otherwise it gets too expensive. For dinner/food on Christmas day, it’s easy for me because we join forces with our other family and all bring food each to put together. I don’t eat meat- so that puts costs down as meat is probably the most expensive food items at Christmas. We already have all of your decorations, so there’s no need to buy any more. My mum only has to buy gifts for her friends and other family members, we all help so it’s not so expensive and stressful.
