Am I underweight at 5'9" and 120-125 pounds?

I am 5’9 I weigh 120-125 is this unhealthy? And no I’m not a person who is just miraculously natrually skinny. I’m very weight concious…and how many calories should I eat if I work out daily for about an hour?

Kristen, please dont start talking rubbish!

It is not what Hannah thinks or how she see’s herself that matters when it comes to deciding she is unhealthy or not.

Likewise, if she was a lot heavier and classed as Obese on the BMI, again, this would also be medically unhealthy regardless of what she thought.

It is not down to an individual to state whether they are healthy or not, this is a decision made my the medical professionals.

If a doctor told me I was unhealthy and that my heart was failing, it would not mean a damn thing whether I believed it or not when I was having my 5th heart attack!

However, one can decide to ignore their advice but the consequences could be serious.

Sorry Kristen, you may have meant well but your statement is foolish and misleading.

PS Hannah, you will find that some people on this site are in denial about their own unhealthy bodyweight.

You may wish to seriously consider whether these people are going to give you healthy and constructive advice when they have so clearly ignored this when it comes to their own weight and eating habits.

if your 5’9 then its a little umhealthy im 5’7 and weigh 120 and im underwieght but dont let anyone tell you your too fat or too skinny its what you think that matters

Actually Hannah, contrary to what Lisa says, If your weight for your height is too much below the recommended on the BMI index, it is unhealthy for you!

At the moment your BMI reading says:

Your BMI result is: 18.04 - Your weight is in the range that is classified as underweight.

However, you are only slightly underweight by about 4 pounds or so. Not a major worry though.

Many people dont need to lose weight but just need to tone up. Maybe that is something you may like to look into rather than lose more weight that would certainly make you underweight and unhealthy according to doctors and nutritionists.

okay so you sound very thin., not necessarily bad. being really skinny is not bad, like many people say…its fine as long as your HEALTHY. so you should eat about 200 calores every 2 or 3 hours. it helps keep your metabolism running and working properly. when you deprive yourself of calores, then your body cannot work and so when you feed it again, it doesnt know what to do so it just turns to fat…just eat high fiber and lean proteins. if you eat carbs, eat them in the morning.
