Who invented street signs?

who keeps track of them all?

Answer #1

They were invented a long, long, long, long, long time ago.

The ancient Egyptians and Romans had street signs. Mostly guideposts. Carved in stone or terracotta.

And who keeps track of modern signs? The municipality where they’re in. Or for signs outside of towns, the public administration in the district.
