Could WW1 still have started if the Duke and dutchess were not murdered?

Honestly i think it would have due to the fact that there was so much tension during that period between the countries. I’m a little rusty on my history, but that much i do remember. whats your opinion?

I pretty much have got 2 sides to it. IT could have either started or it cudnt.. really dotn have an oppinion on it. I think that it could have started because both alliences were ready to fight if 1 made a move (though they just needed an excuse), while on the other hand i think they were both scared and just set up teh alliances to scare one another not really to fight…. but yea..

there was loads of things that could of “sparked” it. Nationalism at the end of the 19th century people who lived in england were convinced that britain was there to naturally rule the world…it was ours but we gave it back we had like one-fifth of the worlds population (those countries are now the commonwealth) Germany which became an unified country in 1871,had an empire too but it was smaller than Britains. the french and british thought the Gerrmans growing empire as a threat. so with other countries in Europe started forming the Triple Entente(Britain,Russia and France) and the triple alliance(Austria-Hungary,Italy and Germany) they all decided to “back” each other up if they went into war. Then Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assasinated and his wife Sophie. Germany did something called “the Schlieffen plan” which failed. Austria invaded Serbia,Russia “backed” Serbia,went to war with Austria so then Germany,who wanted to stick up for Austria,Declared war.Germany tried to invade France but because of the Triple Entente.Britain decided to declare war too. i wrote loads but yeah its what i can remember from History.
