Would you recommend Implanon?

Would you recommend Implanon to me? How are you finding it or found it?

I have never had implanon, but I read that it does have quite a number of side effects (similar to those of the depo provera shot), however implanon contains only progesterone, so is (in my opinion) a bit of a lower risk)

Then again, how many side effects you will have will depend on you as a person (those that are unhealthy and slightly overweight in general have a lot more side effects that those people that are healthy and smoke free. (If you smoke you won’t be able to use it.)

I would always recommend trying the pill first (it’s not that difficult to get into habit of using it and if you have side effects it is very easy to switch to another pill.

I have the implanon implant - works well for me - I had mine changed early (on my second one now) because started getting more side effects but was no problem for my doctor to change it early - Side effects happen with everything - I stopped taking the pill because it made me feel incredibly sick - and was recommended to not use depo injections because they can carry the risk of leading to osteoperosis - so yeah implanon is ok - but it depends on you - speak to your family planning centre or doctor/nurse - just don’t believe all the hype online - I’ve read it too and got stressed and freaked out before I realised that only the bad press on implanon was coming up!!
