How come when women get pregnant their bellybuttons stick out?

Answer #1

The baby is attached to the woman’s belly button by the umbilical cord, and when the baby grows and becomes bigger, it causes the belly button to stick out a bit.

So, basically it’s due to the expansion of the abdomen during pregnancy.

Answer #2

what? Angelee27…that is completely and totally WRONG. The baby is attached to the PLACENTA by its umbilical cord. A woman’s belly button is the scar made from when her umbilical cord was cut off as a baby. A woman’s belly button may or may not stick out when she gets pregnant, because EVERYTHING on her belly sticks out when she’s pregnant. Mine stayed normal, others stick out.

Answer #3

True that! The bady’s ambilical cord can connect anywhere in the placenta.
