Well when you eat... it takes about 20 minutes for your brain to register that you are full up... so yeah if you eat slowly... chew each mouthful lots of times... you will end up eating less because you give your brain time to register that you are full up.
A tip is, if you want to do it is to take a mouthful... then put your knife and fork down until you have finished chewing =]
You won't loose weight it you eat slowly, but you won't gain as much weight. I read it in my health book a while ago. So eat slower and you might not gain as much weight.
