Why won't my webcam show picture!?

I got a new, what I think is an Aveo, webcam off ebay. I got it today. First of all, I have a windows XP computer. It meets all of the webcam requirments. I plugged it in and installed it. I got on MSN so I could start a video call with my friend.

First of all, there are two options. “Start video call” and “see my webcam” it will not allow me to click the second. I started a video call, but there was no picture for my webcam. MY WEBCAM HAS A BUILT-IN MICROPHONE. My friend could hear me, but no see me. Why is this?! I am so frustrated! Please help. Thanks!

I don’t really know much about MSN, but I do have skype and several other webcam applications. You’ll have to select which webcam you want to use (even though you only have one, that’s how it always is) There are several ways to do this. btw, these aren’t steps to take, they are suggestions:

  1. A setting button somewhere around your MSN chat menu, there may be a place to select a webcam.
  2. When you start a new video chat with someone, I assume there will be a black box where your video should go. Right click the black box and go to flash player settings or flash setting or a box will pop up. go to video and it will have a list of all your webcams (yes there will be a list even though you only have one) and select the one you have. if that certain cam doesn’t work try all of them and see which one works.

I hope this helps
