Why shouldnt she go?

My friend is 18 and really wants to go traveling before uni. I think its a good idea and will bring independence, but her parents are still unsure

Ty is right, and I’ve seen it happen to my school friends that took a year off before attempting to study. They do lose momentum, once you start working it’s very hard to go back to studying and also your routine is totally broken.

Rather just have a holiday and then go study. Or at least study something small/insignificant, until she decides what career she wants.

Not entirely sure how you’re involved in this? However, if I were a parent, the reasons I would have would include, losing momentum - a lot of people say they’ll go back and then dont, money - who is going to be paying for this, and finally safety. I’d probably compromise. There’s 3 months of summer. I’d probably let my kid go off for 3 months and then start uni on time.
