Why wont my blackrain ipod touch turn on?

I have recently jailbroken my ipod touch using blackra1n. I turned it of and now it wont turn on. When I turn it on it just come up with the connection to itunes. I know that you have to use blackra1n to turn it back on but it isint working. So I tried to restore it but itunes says “the ipod software update server could not be contacted.make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active”. My network connection is correct and it is active. How do I restore it back to factory condition

Configuration: ipod touch 3rd genaration 8gb software version 3.1.2

History: just jailbroken with blackra1n. Not many apps. Not many songs.one video. About 2-3 weeks old

Mine only turns on to the apple logo for like 3 seconds then turns off?? how do I fix that? it wont charge either

that happened to mine, what happened was you fried the software in the ipod and you more than likly will have to get a new one srry:(

I know this is not an answer to the finny’s question and I might be dumb.. but what is jailbreaking an ipod?
