Why is everyone fishing for compliments?

what the heck is up with people here fishing for compliments? Stop already its so annoying “am I pretty???” blah blah blah. who honestly cares

Dear randomx, You get these type of questions on every forum. It stems from very low self-esteem or depression. These people need verification on a daily basis. Most of us feel we are okay looking and that we are no worse or better than anyone else. This a normal thinking. When we start thinking we are not as good or better this is faulty thinking stemming from a deep problem. Sometime a simple affirmation that they look good will help for a short time…this is a quick fix and as time wears on they need more…much like an addiction. These people in fact tend to pick up addictions and delve into fads and passing styles. This is why I suggest if they need to be told they are pretty, or just want the attention this question brings that they seek out counselling. Sue…good luck

I agree I genreally do think some people do have low self- esteem and do believe there ugly if I think this is the case I will give advice but I do think a lot of people on here are just attention seeking I mean a lot of us don’t think were that good looking myself included but I don’t go posting pictures saying am I pretty I agree though it does annoy me especially people who are just doing it for attention!

Yeah, it can get a bit annoying at times. Unfortunately, not everyone is lucky enough to have high self esteem.

The best thing you can do is suggest they talk to a counselor or someone they trust about how they are feeling, as it’s important that people deal with the reasons they are feeling so insecure.

The other option is to just ignore those posts. In many cases, the question is asked to get a reaction.

I think it’s worse how fifty people a day ask about losing weight and somehow fail to see the other 49 posts about the same topic.
